SurgicEye participated in an interdisciplinary seminar with the declipseSPECT, a novel navigated radio-guided solution enabling 3-D freehand SPECT imaging in Kiel's University Hospital on Tuesday, August 24th 2010. SurgicEye participated in an interdisciplinary seminar organized by Prof. Jonat, Prof. Henze, Dr. Schem and Dr. Lützen in the gynaecological clinic and nuclear medicine department of Kiel's University. The seminar topic was: „Sentinel Lymphnode marking and detection by means of the 3-D navigation system Confident Surgery Suite 300 (CSS 300)". Lymph node markings through radioactively marked nano-colloids were carried out on female patients with breast tumors as well as gynaecological abdominal tumors. Lymph node markings were also performed on prostate cancer and penis cancer affected individuals with colleagues from the urology department. A prostate department will be created in the near future in Kiel's University hospital. declipseSPECT has already been extensively used for breast and skin cancers in Germany and Italy. SurgicEye's CSS 300 enables minimal invasive surgery and provides a very efficient way to spot radionuclides aggregation in 3D in and around infected body parts without having to cut open the patient. SurgicEye's CSS 300 works with a gamma probe, 2-D imaging, 3-D imaging, visualization and navigation supporting state-of-the-art surgical workflow. Its gamma probe enables surgeons to see in 3-D radionuclides aggregating around infected body parts.
