Our Team Wins 1st Prize at IBTEC 2007For the first time, a German start-up team has won 1st prize at the international Intel®+UC Berkeley Technology Entrepreneurship Challenge (IBTEC) and was awarded a 25,000 US$ purse. Thomas Wendler and Eric Soehngen presented the initial business model of SurgicEye (previously named Navaris Medical) to an international jury of investors. Leading American venture capital providers marked SurgicEye’s 3D imaging software as “best technology with a high potential of influence on society”. The technology’s theory was developed under the supervision of Prof. Nassir Navab at the Department of Computer Aided Medical Procedures (CAMP) at Technische Universität München (TUM) in close cooperation with the Department of Nuclear Medicine at Klinikum rechts der Isar, Munich, Germany. IBTEC is part of the Intel®+UC Berkeley Global Technology Entrepreneurship Education Program. It is also an internationally acknowledged competition for business plans. Every year, the best engineers and scientists take part with promising business ideas. For more information, read this article: http://www.intel.com/Education/highered/entrepreneur/2007profiles.htm
