SurgicEye's Management Team Dr. Joerg Traub (CEO) Dr. Traub coordinated the Image Guided Surgery Group at the Department “Computer Aided Medical Procedures” at TUM where he prepared several industrial and clinical cooperation activities. He is author / co-author of over 40 international papers and eight patent applications. Under his supervision, several new image guided surgery systems were designed, developed and evaluated. Thomas Wendler, M.Sc. (CTO) Before his management activities at SurgicEye GmbH Thomas Wendler was responsible for the research field of Molecular Imaging at the Department for Computer Aided Medical Procedures at TUM. He had also a secondary appointment at the Nuclear Medicine Department at Klinikum rechts der Isar where he was responsible for the installment of the central interdisciplinary research laboratory. Dr. Michael Friebe, Chairman of the Advisory Board Dr. Michael Friebe is the CEO of Alliance Medical Europe, a service and solution provider for mobile medical imaging and laboratory systems. He is a serial entrepreneur and private investor in medical device companies with the focus on medical imaging systems.Dr. Friebe did his PhD in intra-operative applications for magnetic resonance imaging and inventor of several patents in the domain of intra-operative imaging applications. Robert Grüter, Advisory Board Member Robert Grueter is an expert in sales of high-tech medical devices. Currently he leads eZono’s sales operations. As co-founder of BrainLAB he has a strong background in innovative medical products. At BrainLAB he served for 10 years as a board member, Vice President Sales and in various other management positions. He helped to transform the company from a start-up to a global provider of software for minimally invasive therapies. Furthermore he established as head of international sales for another start-up a B-2-B internet platform in 20 countries. Robert holds an MBA from the London Business School and Columbia University. Christian “Fred” Hieronimi, Advisory Board Member Christian Hieronimi is a medical device entrepreneur and management professional with extensive experience in commercial excellence and marketing and sales. He was founder and managing director of Medical Intelligence a German company for patient positioning and navigation devices for radiation therapy. With the trade sale of Medical Intelligence to Elekta in 2005 Mr. Hieronimi got the assignment as Vice president of Commercial Excellence at Elekta. Prof. Dr. Nassir Navab, Advisory Board Member and Chief Scientific Officer In 2003 Prof. Nassir Navab founded the Department of Computer Aided Medical Procedures and Augmented Reality, which is considered one of the most innovative and fastest growing institutions of this kind in Germany today. Prof. Navab also holds a secondary appointment at TUM School of Medicine. Before accepting his appointment with TUM, he worked for Siemens Corporate Research in Princeton in various executive scientific positions in medical imaging divisions and received the “Inventor of the Year” Award in 2001 (>300 international peer-reviewed papers and >40 patent families). Prof. Navab studied Mathematics and Physics at Université Nice-Sofia Antipolis, France, and completed his PhD studies at renowned INRIA Institute in France. He spent the following two years as postdoctoral fellow at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston, USA. Dr. Joerg Stroebel, Advisory Board Member Dr. Joerg Stroebel is a management professional with extensive experience in medical equipment business combining scientific and engineering with marketing and sales interrelationships. He is the founder and Managing Partner of Nuremberg-based Efforma Concepts GmbH & Co. KG. Before, he was the Managing Partner of Ziehm Imaging GmbH. Dr. Stroebel studied Physics and completed his PhD at University of Erlangen-Nürnberg. He was a postdoctoral research fellow at IBM Research Lab in Rüschlikon, Switzerland. |
