Tumor treatment is a complex and multidisciplinary team approach. In all steps during the treatment the highest quality of the outcome has to be ensured and the most recent tools need to support the high quality outcome. Early diagnosis is advancing and screening is widely available to detect cancer in an early stage, a stage in which the treatment is more likely to cure the cancer. Recent advances in molecular imaging allow a precise and optimal diagnosis to stratify and optimize the therapy of cancer towards its cure. The treatment facilities, which include surgery as one method, are about to be improved through the availability of 3-D imaging and navigation solutions for precise, complete and minimally invasive surgery. This will enable the reduction of re-occurrence and the reduction of trauma through the surgery.
